Energy psychology is a hybrid of cognitive psychology, acupuncture theory, and other energy therapies that addresses the psycho-emotional roots of much physical illness, pain, mood disorders, and life performance issues. It is a field that has emerged over the last twenty years that was founded on the work of a few notable individuals, namely John Diamond, M.D., and Roger Callahan, Ph. D. Dr. Templin has been practicing energy psychology for over twenty years and was a charter member of the Association For Comprehensive Energy Psychology.
Energy Psychology often uses acupressure touch or point tapping to mobilize and balance the meridian energy system. Balancing this energy directly can have a pronounced influence on how we feel and perceive our world since feelings are a direct reflection of the body’s energy flow. While not a magic bullet or cure all, this approach can greatly accelerate therapeutic progress and can be taught to the patient to be used for at home reinforcement. These self wrought changes are encouraging and empowering for most patients.
Energy Psychology can easily be combined with applied kinesiology to further show the patient how both conscious and unconscious intent can be aligned to enhance therapeutic outcomes. Another complement to this psycho-emotional work would be the addition of appropriate flower essences and somatic focusing to mobilize the necessary growth oriented qualities within the individual. More information on flower essences can be found in the sections on homeopathy.
